Case Studies

Three engagements. Three different briefs. One consistent standard: creative work that holds up under scrutiny and keeps working long after the project closes.

Creative Production · Photography, Video & Live Events

Red Bull

Live Events Covered
Multi-Season

Red Bull operates across formats — motorsport, music, sport, and culture — and the standard never changes regardless of the context. Leo França covered multiple formats of Red Bull activation in Brazil: Stock Car motorsport events, Red Bull Music Academy productions, exclusive Red Bull sports events, and sponsored brand activations. Each format demanded a different visual approach. The brief was always the same: make it feel real, make it feel Red Bull.

“The brief was simple: make it feel real. No studio setup, no second chances. Just the athlete, the moment, and the camera.”

— Leo França, on the Red Bull brief
In His Own Words

You covered motorsport, music, and sports events. How do you shift between them?

The visual language changes completely. A Stock Car pit lane and an RBMA venue are two different worlds. But the discipline is the same: understand the environment before you pick up the camera, then move fast enough to catch what’s real.

How do you balance brand guidelines with creative freedom?

Red Bull’s standards are actually liberating once you internalize them. They’re not restrictions, they’re a vocabulary. Once you’re fluent, you can say anything within that language — whether you’re on a racetrack or in a music venue at midnight.

“A rebrand isn't a logo change. It's a decision about who you want to become. My job was to make that decision visible, and build a system that keeps it that way.”

— Leo França, on the Magnum rebrand
In His Own Words

What was the biggest challenge in this rebrand?

Alignment. A rebrand touches every department: sales, marketing, operations, manufacturing. Getting everyone to commit to the same direction before a single pixel was designed was the real work.

What does a "scalable" brand system actually mean in practice?

It means a designer who has never met you can pick up the guidelines and produce something that looks like you made it. That's the test. The Magnum system passed that test for four years and counting.

“Great brand photography isn't about excess. It's about restraint. Finding the one detail that says everything, then having the discipline to stop there.”

— Leo França, on art directing for premium brands
In His Own Words

How do you photograph something as intangible as taste?

You don't photograph the taste. You photograph the evidence of it: the gloss on a freshly broken piece, the steam rising from a pour, the hands of the person who made it. The story lives in the details.

What separates good food photography from great brand photography?

Intent. Good food photography makes you hungry. Great brand photography makes you believe in what the company stands for. The difference is whether you're selling a product or building a relationship.

Why Leo França

What Sets Me Apart

01
Hybrid Profile

I don't just direct, I execute. Most Creative Directors hand off to production. I stay in the room, on the file, and on the brief until it's done.

02
Lead and Produce

I lead creative teams and manage senior designers, and when the project demands it, I step in to edit the video, refine the file, or fix the brief.

03
Brand + Performance

I build brand systems that hold up aesthetically and perform in paid media. Brand integrity and conversion metrics are not competing priorities.

04
Fast and Efficient

I build systems that make teams faster without lowering the bar. Scalable templates, clear governance, and a production process that doesn't require constant oversight.

Experience With

Brands & Clients

Over the past decade, Leo França has built a body of work alongside some of the most recognized names in sports, lifestyle, and consumer goods. His work with Red Bull covered multiple seasons of motorsport activations and brand events in Brazil, producing photography and video content under the brand's demanding standards in high-speed, live production environments.

In the consumer space, Leo led the full visual identity rebuild for Magnum Electric Bikes, creating a brand system now active across 250+ dealers in 38+ states and international markets, four years after the project closed. For Solstice Chocolate, a multi-award-winning bean-to-bar producer recognized at the International Chocolate Awards, he directed the advertising photography and packaging that positioned the brand as a premium product in competitive retail. Work for Vans, Fabletics, and Adidas extended his portfolio into global activewear and footwear, producing campaign imagery aligned with each brand's distinct visual language.

Across every engagement, the constant has been the ability to operate at brand level: understanding not just what a campaign should look like, but why it needs to look that way. From independent studios to global corporations, Leo brings the same standard of craft and strategic clarity to every brief.
